FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about using Finish List.
Getting Started
How do I start a session?
From the home screen, tap 'New session'. Type in your tasks, choose a session length (1, 2, or 4 hours), and tap Start. You'll be taken straight into the swipe interface.
How many tasks can I add?
There's no hard limit. In practice, 5–10 tasks works well for a focused session. You can always quick-add more tasks while the session is running.
Can I add tasks while a session is running?
Yes. Tap the + button in the top-right corner of the session screen to add a task on the fly without interrupting your flow.
Swiping & Tasks
How does swiping work?
Swipe right to mark a task as completed. Swipe left to skip it. Skipped tasks go back into the queue and will appear again later in the session.
What happens to skipped tasks?
They're requeued and shown again later in the session. At the end, you'll see a summary of everything skipped with a prompt to save them to your backlog for next time.
What is task breakdown?
If a task feels too big, you can break it into up to five smaller subtasks on the spot. They replace the original task in the queue for the rest of the session.
What does 'Save for later' do?
It moves the task to your backlog immediately, removing it from the current session. Use it when you realize a task isn't right for today.
Breaks & Timing
How do breaks work?
Every 25 minutes of active session time, a break prompt appears with a 5-minute countdown. You can take the break or skip it and keep going — your choice.
Why does my screen stay on during a session?
Finish List keeps the screen awake while a session is active so you can glance at your current task without unlocking your phone. It stops automatically when the session ends.
What happens when the timer runs out?
The session ends and you're taken to the completion screen, where you'll see your stats, skipped tasks, and options for what to do next.
Backlog
What is the backlog?
The backlog is a persistent list of tasks you've parked for later. Tasks land here when you tap 'Save for later' during a session or choose to save skipped tasks at the end of a session.
How do I use backlog tasks in a new session?
When setting up a new session, you'll see your backlog below the task input. Tap any backlog item to pull it into your session.
How do I delete backlog items?
Open the Backlog screen from the home screen. Swipe or tap the remove button next to any item to delete it.
Finish Pro
What is Finish Pro?
Finish Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks additional features: custom session lengths (15 minutes to 8 hours), AI-powered task extraction from notes, and advanced session history stats.
How much does Finish Pro cost?
Finish Pro is $7.99/month or $79.99/year, billed through the App Store. A 7-day free trial is available for new subscribers.
How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
Go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, find Finish Pro, and tap Cancel Subscription. You'll keep access until the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial periods.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com and select your Finish Pro purchase.
How do I restore my Pro subscription on a new device?
Open Finish List, tap 'Upgrade to Pro', then tap 'Restore Purchases' at the bottom of the paywall screen. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID.
Does my free trial automatically convert to a paid subscription?
Yes. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan and your payment method will be charged. You will not receive a separate notification that the trial has ended.
How does 'Extract from notes' work?
Paste your meeting notes, brain dump, or any text into the box and tap 'Extract tasks'. The text is sent to our server, which uses an AI model (OpenAI) to identify the action items and return them as a ready-to-use task list. The feature is available to Finish Pro subscribers.
Is my text stored when I use 'Extract from notes'?
No. The text you paste is sent over an encrypted connection, processed by the AI model to generate your task list, and then discarded. Nothing is stored on our servers, and the text is not linked to your identity in any way.
History & Data
Where is my data stored?
All data — tasks, sessions, history, and backlog — is stored locally on your device. Nothing is sent to any server.
Can I recover a deleted session?
No. Once data is deleted, it cannot be recovered. Please be careful when clearing your history.
Does Finish List sync across devices?
Not currently. Data is local to the device it was created on.
What happens if I delete the app?
All locally stored data is deleted along with the app and cannot be recovered.
How do I delete my data?
Your data is stored only on your device. Clear it in iOS Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Finish List → Delete App. There is no server-side data held by us to request deletion of.
Privacy & Legal
Does Finish List collect my personal data?
No. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. Your tasks and sessions are stored only on your device. If you subscribe to Pro, Apple and RevenueCat process your subscription status — see our Privacy Policy for details.

Never. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to anyone.
I'm in the EU — what are my rights?
